Remember

As Erik and I were driving out of Heber yesterday we saw this:

It was such a simple and quiet way to remember the tragic events of September 11th but it really touched my heart.

We spent the evening watching 9/11: Ten Years Later on CBS. It was an incredible documentary that featured interviews with firefighters from the NYFD's Ladder 1.  I'll admit it was hard to watch at points but it helped me to reconnect with the things I felt on that fall day so many years ago.

I read some wonderful blog posts yesterday about people's 9/11 experiences and their feelings 10 years later. The thing that stuck out to me the most in all of those posts was the need to remember. Remember how we felt that day and for months and years afterwards.  Remember the way the city of New York and America as a whole came together to grieve - and to lift one another up. Remember the heros of that day - the ones that were lost, the ones who remain, and the ones who continue to suffer.  We need to remember each and every day not only the tragedy of that day but the love that followed.  If the attacks on our country showed us the worst of humanity, the days and years that followed have showed us the best of humanity.  That despite all the evil there will always be an enormous amount of good in the world. And the good will always prevail.
