Happy Birthday Mom!

I got the most classic email from my mom while I was at work today. She had just found out that the Angel's had signed Albert Pujols for $254 million over 10 years and she was FREAKING out. The email was written in red and basically in all caps. She said it was the best birthday present she ever could have gotten!

You see, my mom is a total Angels fanatic.

She listens to the Angel's radio commentators during the game to get more insight into what's happening on the field.

She also keeps score at every game she attends (which is almost every home game).

She puts her whole heart and soul into supporting her favorite team. In fact, she puts her whole heart and soul into everything she does in life. It's something I've always admired about her. She doesn't do anything half-way.

So I just want to wish my mom a very happy birthday!

Love you mom!!

I would also like to thank the Angels and Albert Pujols for making it the best birthday ever for her! Now if you can just win the World Series she would really appreciate it :)

Quarter of Century Birthday

I have to say I'm probably the worst blogger ever. I've had this blog for a few years now and I've never been good at regularly posting...and I can't even count how many how many posts I've started with "Well, I'm really bad at this blogging thing." But I'm determined to be better mostly because I'm terrible at writing in a journal and I'd like to have some record of my life...for myself and for my family. My excuse in not posting the last few months was that I was planning a wedding - but now I'm married and I have no more excuses! Plus Erik's been teasing me forever that the only reason I wanted to get married was so I could have a cute married blog. So I figure I better justify all of that teasing by actually having a cute married blog :)

So without further ado...here is my hopeful return to the blogging world.

I turned 25 back on November 20th. Erik loved telling everyone it was my "Quarter of  a Century Birthday". I'm 2.5 years older than him and he milks that for all it's worth.

But despite the teasing he made it an awesome birthday!

Starting the night before my birthday with dinner at Texas Roadhouse and some pretty great presents.

Gold Ray-Ban Aviators and Grey Toms! I didn't even have to tell him that's what I wanted! He's a pretty good listener and noticed I've been talking about wanting these two items for months.

When you have a birthday at Texas Roadhouse they make you sit on a saddle...

...which is much less embarrassing than the year I had my birthday dinner at Joe's Crab Shack and I had to run around the restaurant in a cow costume. I'm still trying to recover from that one.

All in all it was a great evening with my incredibly adorable husband.

The next night we had some of our best friends over for cake and games. Somehow I didn't get any pictures of the whole group! But I didn't forget to get pictures of the cake Erik made.

Poor thing, he had the best intentions with this cake, but for some reason it just fell apart as soon as he put the icing on! But it still tasted delicious!

24 was a pretty amazing year - I started dating the most amazing man, married him, graduated from college, and got my first real job. In fact, I'd say 24 was probably the best year ever. But I have a feeling things will just keep getting better from here on out. I've got high hopes for 25.

Happy Birthday Babe!

This is totally two days late but Saturday was Erik's b-day.  The big 2-2 for my sweet boyfriend.  He had to work in the am but afterwards I took him out to see "The Source Code" (which we loved) and for a huge bucket o' movie popcorn (we LOVE movie popcorn and definitely ate a large bucket before the movie was even half-way over...then I got a refill to take home because the only thing I love more than movie popcorn is day old movie popcorn. yum.) and some black gold (1/2 coke + 1/2 mr. pib = crazy delicious).  Then it was up to Heber for the RSL game (they won!!  yay!!) and some amazing dinner cooked by Erik's even more amazing mom (ribs, green salad, and my new favorite potato salad ever...I think the Nystul's might have a conspiracy to make me gain a lot of weight, because talk about delicious food....my mouth is watering just thinking about all the yummy dinners I've had at their house).

In honor of my sweetie's birthday I would like to share with you the present I gave him for the first birthday I knew him.  For those of you who don't know, Erik and I met as LDS missionaries in South Carolina.  But don't worry...we were just friends on the mish.  I mean look how far apart we are in this picture:

My last day in the mission...don't mind my seriously shiny face.
The way epic Marion District: Elder Nystul, Elder Shackleton, Sister Tanner, and me
We were in the same district for 6 months and he had a birthday when we were first serving around each other.  So my adorable companion Sister Tanner and I wrote our dear Elder Nystul an awesome birthday rap and performed it for him on his birthday.  So without further ado, I present to you three very white, rapping missionaries:

That was me rapping, Sister Tanner on back-up vocals, and Elder Harmon beat boxing.  We gained some serious street cred that day.  A few weeks later Sister Tanner went home and Erik's companion, Elder Shackleton, was transferred to another area.

Our district at transfers.

But before we all got separated those two cute boys wrote Sister Tanner and I a rap.  And I'm sure they will kill me for posting this but it's just two great not to share:

Who would have thought then that I would end up in love with that tall, dorky, rapper...but I'm sure glad I did.  I guess it goes to show you never know where life will take you.  I've said it before on this blog and I'll say it again...Erik really is the best.  He puts up with my craziness, he makes me laugh everyday, and he is basically the most loving, wonderful guy a girl could ask for.  I love you babe and I hope your 22nd year is a great one!
